❝ Once upon a time... Soveh'a does not remember the name his parents gave him, nor does he recall them at all. Born in a tiny village at the very base of the Skatay Range, he was only five years of age when a Garlean strike team stormed the small community, taking all and sundry as captives. They were transported to a blacksite base in the Shroud, near Castrum Oriens. V-524311, as he was assigned, grew up in a small cage for majority of his childhood years, occasionally poked and prodded, but for the most part, left alone. When he reached the age of adulthood, it was then that his life became an endless nightmare of torture, systematic brainwashing and never-ending surgeries to implant magitek into his body. The Garleans wished to create a loyal spymaster... but buried deep within V-524311 was the tiniest core of his being that never fully surrendered to the dogma he was subjected to.This hellish existence went on for years, until one day, a tactical unit made up of Gridanians and Keepers of the Moon stormed the blacksite. They saved as many of the Veena as had survived, but some were so far gone, they had no choice but to put them down. V-524311 was almost one of them, but a member of a Keeper clan, a woman named Ixoh, who had never been able to bear children, recognised the anguished man's potential for rehabilitation. She stepped forward to claim responsibility for caring for the traumatized and violent young Viera. He was adopted into the clan and given a name - Soveh'a Maiadi - and while it took almost a decade, with love and careful mentoring, Ixoh managed to deprogram him, for the most part. With only a blade and his bare hands, he mutilated himself, ripping out the magitek that had been implanted into his body, leaving him with a plethora of scars.
Discovering that Soveh'a possessed a natural talent for magical healing, the Keepers taught him conjury - which he excelled at to an almost uncanny degree. During this time, he also managed to - gradually - befriend a former Padjal by the name of Ea-Sura-Supin, who'd had his horns stripped from him and turned mortal, due to a breach of the unforgiving Elemental's trust. It was this man who saw the unwavering desire, the burning need in Soveh'a to do good in the world, and so, in secret, gifted him a white mage soulstone. Soveh'a was not with Ea-Sura when his wife passed of illness, but he helplessly watched as one of his few, most trusted friends spiraled into a despair so endless and deep that he eventually transformed into the Blasphemy Gleipnir and was slain. With unparalleled conviction that Ea-Sura deserved a second chance, and - more selfishly, mourning the loss of his friend - Soveh'a found a lonely place in the middle of the Twelveswood, late one evening. Clutching the gifted soulstone in his hand, he called upon the vast power of white magic, channelling a prodigious tempest of aether as he attempted to resurrect the man. He was, however, interrupted by the Elemental's fury, as vines curled around his limbs, wind whipped around him and a tumultuous thunderstorm broke open the sky above. Unbeknownst to him, had he succeeded in the ritual, he would have only managed to bring back the Blasphemy, rather than Ea-Suna. His friend was gone forever. For raising the ire of the Elementals in such an egregious manner, Seedseer Kan-E-Senna gave the order that he was to be cast out of the Shroud forever. No help came from his adoptive mother or the clan of Keepers who had taken him in, knowing that should they defend him, they too would suffer the consequences from the Elementals.
Escorted to the border with his few belongings, Soveh'a wandered for years, lost and alone, providing aid and succor to the ill and infirm. Currently, he resides in the Brume in Ishgard, looking for work, though he still travels frequently, never one to stay in one place for long.
